Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) Summer Internship 2023 is a 10-week internship program in the United States that is fully supported (USA). This summer internship is accessible to all foreign students from across the world. Students of any nationality are encouraged to apply. LPI Internships pay all expenditures, including flying tickets, meals, lodging, visas, monthly scholarships, and so on. There is no registration charge. These internships do not require any English proficiency examinations. You can apply for an LPI Internship without having to take the IELTS or GRE. LPI is one of the best internships for getting a taste of a new working environment. Participants who have been chosen will be contacted in March 2023.ll

Participants majoring in physics or science, engineering, computer science, or mathematics will be given priority, although all qualifying students will be evaluated. In other words, the fields listed above are recommended but not needed. As a result, if your educational background is different, please apply. LPI is located in southeast Houston, Texas, near his NASA Johnson Space Center. His 10-week program will begin on June 5, 2023 and end on August 11, 2023.

Duration: 10 Weeks (June 5–August 11, 2023)

Funding:

  • All interns will get a stipend of up to $7,720 to cover the program-associated costs.

  • Air Tickets will be provided.

  • Travel Expenses of up to $500 will be provided to the international interns.

  • Housing and Living Expenses will be covered.

  • Interns who will be submitting accepted abstracts to the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference as 1st author will get additional financial support. $1,000 (domestic travelers) and up to $1,500 (international travelers) to help defray travel expenses.

Internship Fields:

  • Physical or Natural science,
    Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics are Preferred, but all Eligible Students will be considered.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • All domestic and international Undergraduate students can apply.

  • If you hold a bachelor’s degree in a non-related field but are actively pursuing another bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to this program, then you are eligible to apply.

  • Students should be willing to be an intern for 10 weeks of duration.

  • Candidates will be considered without any gender, age, color disability race, or religious discrimination.

  • NO IELTS/TOEFL is Required if you can get English Proficiency Certificate from your professor of English at your university.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority and depending on location, the Associate Legal Officer may be responsible for the following duties:

China Dialogue Grants for Reporters to Cover RSPO Conference 2022

China Dialogue is offering three grants for reporters to cover the RSPO Annual Roundtable Conference on Sustainable Palm Oil 2022 (RT2022) from November 27th – December 1st 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Successful candidates will contribute to a team report on the conference, participate in our workshop on palm oil reporting and join us on a field trip. You will also have the opportunity to develop and produce a longer term feature that will be published on China Dialogue’s website in 2023.

China Dialogue has been covering palm oil in-depth, with a dedicated editorial team, for the past three years, with support from The David and Lucile Packard Foundation. The first two years introduced our readers to the wider environmental impacts of palm oil, the key producers and consumer markets, new frontiers and the challenges of producing palm oil sustainably. The second phase of the project is focusing more on social justice and human stories within the supply chain, as well as examining the latest science and technological innovation and palm oil’s role within wider commodity supply chains.

During the RSPO conference, you will be required to:

  • Attend daily team briefings

  • Set up interviews and make contacts

  • Participate in social media promotion

  • Contribute to a team story on the conference

  • Gather material to support a longer term palm oil story with us

  • Successful applicants will have their expenses covered by China Dialogue, including travel (international or domestic), accommodation, visas, meals and a field trip.

Eligibility:

  • You must be a print or online experienced journalist within a newsroom – or a freelancer who has a relationship with a publication that will agree to sponsor your accreditation. You must be able to demonstrate you have previously covered environmental issues and possess a fair level of knowledge of the issues and debate surrounding palm oil.

  • They are particularly interested in reporters from the key producer countries (Indonesia and Malaysia) and markets (India and China) and new frontier countries (Latin America and West Africa).

They organise YEA-led social media campaigns and public diplomacy activities, workshops, ideathons, pub quizzes, meetings, school visits, fairs, Europe Days or Instagram live debates, online bingos, vlogs, takeovers and much more. The YEAs have the chance to represent their countries at meetings with high-level EU officials, contribute to policy discussions by participating in a variety of EU events, including European youth forums and Eastern Partnership conferences. The YEAs initiative offers volunteering, career building and young leadership opportunities to its network members.

The Southern African Youth Forum (SAYoF) invites interested youth to apply for the opportunity to next become Southern Africa Climate Change Youth Envoy.

The call follows the hosting of the 4th SADC Youth Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa attended by young people from sixteen Southern African countries, government representatives, international organizations, civil society representatives, and academia among other stakeholders. The Forum which was focusing on the theme, “SADC Youth Call for Climate Action: Promoting Peace and Good Governance for Sustainable Environment’’, through the 4th SADC Youth Forum Declaration Forum deliberated and recommended among other things the institutionalization of the Southern Africa Climate Change Youth Envoy. Realizing the agent need for young people in Southern Africa to take action, complement governments, and proffer solutions towards climate justice.

The call for the appointment of the Southern Africa Climate Change Youth Envoy is a vehicle to show young people’s commitment to protecting their environment, inclusion in climate discussion, negotiations, solutions, fighting climate change, and championing sustainable development issues.

The three pillars of the Envoy’s office will be promoting youth participation in the climate action agenda, advocacy for progressive climate policies in SADC and building partnerships for climate action with stakeholders at different levels of society. EU-ECOWAS scholarships programme on sustainable energy 2022

The EU-ECOWAS Scholarship programme provides scholarships for masters’ degrees in the sustainable energy sector at specialised universities in West Africa (Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo) for the benefit of eligible students from ECOWAS member states involved in the energy sector.

Applications to the universities in Cote d’Ivoire and Togo are now OPEN, with a deadline for submission by 23 September 2022 at 18.00 WAT.

The programme aims to improve access to high-quality training in the sustainable energy sector in West Africa, enabling university graduates with a focus on young professionals (English, French and Portuguese speaking) in the ECOWAS member states to acquire the profile required to meet the growing demand for specialists at the highest level in the field of sustainable energy and to promote good governance of the sector in the region.

Benefits/Funding:

The two types of scholarships available on the programme are:

Mobile Scholarships:

Scholars are selected to complete their master’s program in higher education institutions located outside their country of residence. The scholarship will provide funding for tuition, subsistence, travel, research grant, insurance and visa.

Stationary Scholarships:

Scholars are selected to complete their master’s program in higher education institutions located in their country of residence. The scholarship will take care of scholars’ tuition and research grant. A small stipend to contribute towards travel and subsistence will also be provided.

Selection criteria:

  • The EU-ECOWAS Scholarship application form collects responses from applicants who are interested to complete a master’s programme in the energy sector from shortlisted universities. The scholarship selection process will analyse the information collected through the application form against the following criteria:

  • Be nationals of a member state of ECOWAS or Mauritania and being resident in ECOWAS’ region or Mauritania

  • Have at least a bachelor’s degree with First Class or Second Class (Upper Division)

  • Have undertaken studies at least at bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, energy and environment (including renewable energy and energy efficiency), law, economics, finance and planning as deemed by the entry requirements of the chosen university

  • Work experience in the energy sector in West Africa will be an added advantage

  • Hold (at least) provisional admission into an approved course of study at the time of scholarship approval
  • Scholarship is open to working and non-working candidates. Working candidates are required to provide letter of release from their employer to complete the course for the duration of the programme

  • Commitment to publish at least 1 practice-oriented research before the end of the programme

  • Commitment to start internships within the course of study.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) launches the immersion internship program for young graduates in ECOWAS institutions.

• The program is open to young graduates from the ECOWAS Member States, aged 35 years or less.

OBJECTIVES OF THE INTERNSHIP

Overall objective:

  • Contribute to the professional integration of young graduates, by offering them

  • the opportunity to get to know ECOWAS programs better, at the
    same time for

  • the Interns to offer their contribution for efficient implementation of programs and activities of the institutions.

Specific objectives:

• Offer the possibility of an immersion (internship) in the services of the regional institution (Institutions, Agencies, Departments, Resident Representations);

• Create a framework that allows young graduates to contribute to the implementation of major ECOWAS programs within Departments, Agencies, Representations and Institutions.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

• Young graduates from ECOWAS Member States, not more than 35 years of age.

CONDITIONS OF THE INTERNSHIP

• The immersion course lasts one year.

• A flat monthly allowance of $500 over a maximum period of 12 months, for the intern wishing to carry out the internship in their country of origin.

• A flat monthly allowance of $800 over a maximum period of 12 months, for interns wishing to complete their internship in a country other than their own.

• A return ticket from the country to the host country for interns doing their internship in a country other than their own.

• Health insurance for the Intern, to deal with possible cases of illness.

SELECTION CRITERIA

• Be a citizen of an ECOWAS Member States;

• Hold a Certificate, at the Bachelor (BSc), Master, PhD or equivalent certificate;

▪ a request to the ECOWAS Commissioner for Human Development and Social Affairs (HDSA) which describes the motivation of the candidate with expression of his centers of interest, as well as the candidate’s commitment to respect the terms and conditions of the internship;

▪ a copy of the academic certificate or its equivalent;

DURATION, PLACE AND TERMS OF THE INTERNSHIP

The Immersion Program for young graduates in ECOWAS programs lasts one year over a period of 12 months maximum {Not renewable}.

• The Program is carried out in the Departments, Agencies, Representations and Institutions of ECOWAS, or any other place duly designated by ECOWAS.

• The young graduate benefiting from the Program produces a report at the end of the internship in three copies, one copy being sent to the ESC Directorate, another copy to the user department and the last copy for the intern in person.

• The practical modalities of the course will be defined in connection with the reception department.

• The intern benefits from a supervisor who monitors his work throughout the Program and allows him to acquire adequate professional experience.

• The intern is required (mandatory) to participate in person or online (for those not residing in Abuja) in any information or internship feedback meeting convened by Program Coordination.

China Dialogue Trust (CDT) is seeking an Africa Editor to join its expanding Africa team. The Editor will play a key role in commissioning and editing articles on the most pressing environment and climate issues in Africa, particularly in regards to China’s role on the continent, and help formulate editorial strategy. The Editor will work closely with CDT’s existing regional editors in West and East Africa, the Global China Editor, a network of freelancers across the continent, and with colleagues in London and across our regional hubs.

They will be proactive, highly organised and self-motivated. Eligibility:

  • Interested applicants should own startups that are led by women or youths not more than 35 years of age.
  • The submissions for the challenge should be centered around agriculture innovation in Kaduna State and should have a good profitable value by today’s business standards. This includes innovation around production, processing, distribution, payments, transportation, storage, and marketing in the agriculture sector in Kaduna.

Benefits:

This programme will run for 6 months and startups have the opportunity to win N5million in cash.

How to apply:

Applicants will be selected based on how relevant their startup is to the improvement of the supply chain in Kaduna and their pitch decks. The pitch decks should include the name of your business, your unique value proposition, target markets, business surveys, business registration details, evidence of traction, problem statements and solution.
