With all the challenges of 2021, Climate Tracker is planning to support a small team of 5 in-person journalists to report from inside the UN Climate Talks this October & November.

We’re looking for young, but experienced reporters who ideally have covered a major international environmental conference in the past, and can jump into COP26 and make the most of it from day 1.

We’re also looking for reporters who are currently based in Europe or the UK, but come from a developing country background, and can speak and write in a non-english language.

The 5 selected fellows, will need to be available from October 28 – November 13th, and be interested to:

  • €250 stipend.
  • Two week online Training Prior to COP26.
  • Small group and individual mentoring throughout COP26.
  • Support to edit and pitch your stories throughout COP.
  • Opportunities to work on collaborative stories with other reporters from around your region, and the world.

For each of the fellows, we they are looking for candidates who would be willing and able to:

  • Can pitch and publish up to 4 stories in their national media.
  • Have a willingness to learn about Climate politics.
  • Have a good wifi connection.
  • Can engage in some English-based trainings (though mentoring, publishing and individual training will be multilingual).
  • Are from or living in a developing country.
  • Are keen to join the Climate Tracker family!

Eligibility:

  • Be 18-35 years old.
  • 1 year of journalism experience min.
  • A hunger to improve as journalists – this is a learning experience.
  • A proven history of writing quality climate stories (show that you’ve published a climate or environmental story in the past 3 months)
  • Your resume or CV
  • A short personal essay on why this would be a great opportunity for you, and how you would make the most of it.
  • A selection of your writing portfolio.
