The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) seeks nominations for the 2021 ICFJ Knight International Journalism Awards. They l are seeking nominees whose pioneering coverage or media innovations have a significant impact on the lives of people around the world. Candidates can be reporters, editors, technologists, media managers or citizen journalists.

The ICFJ Knight International Journalism Award recognizes excellent reporting that makes a difference in the lives of people around the world. Recipients of the ICFJ Knight International Journalism Award are reporters, editors, technologists, media managers or citizen journalists who, despite difficult circumstances, produce pioneering news reports or innovations that make a significant impact in their countries.

The Award, supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, reflects the mission of ICFJ Knight Fellowships: to instill a culture of news innovation worldwide. The goal is to seed new ideas and services that deepen coverage, expand news delivery and engage citizens in the editorial process. The fellowship program is supported by Knight Foundation, with additional funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Benefits/Fundings:

  • Award winners receive a trip to the United States, where they will be honored at ICFJ’s Awards Dinner on November 9, 2021.

Eligibilities:

  • Nominees whose pioneering coverage or media innovations have made an impact on the lives of people in their countries or regions.
  • Candidates can be reporters, editors, technologists, media managers or citizen journalists.
  • Candidates who meet the awards criteria may nominate themselves.
