The Young Politicians and Leaders Network (YPLN) is a global movement of young change agents dedicated to training its cohort to take up leadership roles to influence the future of Africa and the world in general.
As a means of creating a cross-country idea-sharing and networking opportunity, a maiden two-day continental summit will be hosted in Accra, Ghana in November 2019 where participants would converge to discuss and formulate solutions to some of Africa’s pressing and emerging problems.
The Young African Leaders Summit (YALS 2019) will collate ideas from some of the continent’s most exceptional youth figures and aggregate them into relevant themes able to shape policy on the continent.
YPLN is seeking Country Representatives to promote the goals and objectives of YALS 2019 in all countries in Africa.

This year’s theme for this event is:
Securing the future of Africa: The Role of the African Youth, young Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs.
Mission:
- The Young African Leaders Summit is created to bring together policy makers, youth in politics, young entrepreneurs and start-ups to discuss various topical issues that pertain to economic empowerment, politics, climate change and entrepreneurship development.
- Each summit shall feature a new theme drawn from the principal issues that affect African youths living in Africa and those in diaspora.
- The summit shall brainstorm on vital topics such as African in diaspora roles in developing their nations, investments opportunities, challenges facing African entrepreneurs, commonwealth funding and grants, etc

Expected Outcomes:
- Participants will work together to draft a declaration which will be submitted to Heads of States and the African Union.

Focus:
- This high-level program shall be a congress of youths in politics, entrepreneurs, agents of Change (NGOs and State Actors) across the nations of Africa. At the end of each summit, nations from all continents present will be empowered to exploit collaboration potentials and a communique released detailing all the resolutions at the forum.
- Speakers shall be invited to address critical issues relating to the theme of the event.
- Youths shall be encouraged to collaborate and take centre stage regarding issues in their various societies.
Eligibility:
This position requires an individual with strong leadership abilities; representational, communication skills, and the ability to develop networks to build partnerships and diversify program resources. Eligibilities include:
- Should be a resident citizen of the African country applying for
- Demonstrated progressive experience working in collaboration with relevant country-based organizations and stakeholders
- Strong oral and written communication, organizational, demonstrated supervisory, and interpersonal skills
- A track record of leadership or people management
- Demonstrated ability to work in teams
- Be willing to work on a volunteer basis (no remuneration available)
- Be between the age of 18 and 35 years
- Be active on social media
Eligible Regions: Open for all African countries
Specific Duties:
- Support and promote the Young African Leaders Summit at the country level to attract participation for the event
- Represent YALS 2019 at the highest levels in designated country.
- Establish and maintain highly collaborative working relationships and with organizers and stakeholders, including implementing and collaborating partners.
- Ensure healthy and open communications with organizers
- Serve as leader of a delegation for country delegates for the summit.
