International Youth Alliance For Family Planning (IYAFP) Research Associate (Nigeria)

International Youth Alliance For Family Planning (IYAFP) Research Associate (Nigeria)

Deadline: APRIL 13, 2018 at midnight (EST).

Shortlisted applicants should be available for potential interviews on April 18th and 19th.

IYAFP is looking for 4 research associates from Nigeria who will be paid a competitive honorarium for their work in-country. The Associates should be between the ages of 15 and 35. IYAFP members will be given preference, and all applicants should be willing to dedicate 20 – 40 work days across the next six months, with most availability necessary in ~3-4 months.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project is called the Empowering Evidence-Driven Advocacy and will be a three-year partnership between PRB and IYAFP. Using the Youth FP Policy Scorecard that PRB has created, PRB and IYAFP will work together to conduct implementation assessments of the youth-friendly family planning service provision component of the Scorecard in six focus countries for the first year: Burkina Faso, Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Tanzania and Senegal.

The aim of the project will be to identify gaps between policy commitments and program realities – to understand the true lived experiences of youth on the ground and where gaps might exist between policies and actual programmatic reality. Ultimately, this information will be turned into relevant advocacy and policy communications materials.

To do this, IYAFP will select 4 youth in Nigeria through a competitive process who will help conduct research on the ground.

ABOUT THE POSITIONS
Each in-country research associate will receive an honorarium each day for their work in organizing focus group discussions, collecting data, and follow-up with participants. The data collection in Nigeria will take approximately 25-45 days. Research Associates will be overseeing stakeholder and individual interviews, focus group discussions, as well as overseeing the dissemination of an online youth survey (total of 25-40 days total).

In addition to key research activities, research associates will be responsible for keeping track of their time, taking notes during interviews for each other, and recruiting youth involvement.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITIONS
Applicants to this position should fit the following criteria:
– Speak English AND a local language
– Have strong internet access
– Preferably located in the capital Lagos
– Be between the ages of 15-35 (be advised that shortlisted candidates will be asked to turn in a copy of their National ID card and passport copy)
– Be willing to commit between 24-45 days full-time for project activities
– Demonstrated passion for family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights
– Strong research fundamentals and foundation in research ethics highly preferred
