This is a call for the Regional Focal Points (GFP) of the children and youth constitute of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism (SEM).
The United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UN MGCY) Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) working group is the formal children and youth constitute within the UNDRR SEM. It is an open, transparent and accountable constituency.
Any young person in any capacity is welcome to engage, as well as children and youth-led /-focused entities.
What does a Regional Focal Points RFP do:
- They are responsible for the regional facilitation of children and youth within the UNDRR SEM and related avenues of children and youth engagement in the regional implementation, follow-up and review of the Sendai Framework.
Who can apply to be a RFP:
- You need to have the age of 30 or below at the time of application.
Why should I apply to be a Regional Focal Points RFP:
- You will be able to ensure meaningful engagement of children and youth in DRR.
- You will contribute to a more resilient world, by enhanced policy implementation of the Sendai Framework

What happens after you applied:
- The selection team will carry out a review of the candidates who applied, followed by a selection.
- Any member representatives within UN MGCY DRR can be part of the selection team.
- Following this, the selection team will compile the vote and reach out to those with the highest votes and ask if they accept the position.
- If they do they will be announced as the new RFPs to the working group’s members.
