Oxfam Trainee Scheme 2019, United Kingdom (Paid)

Deadline: 20 January 2019

Do you have passion and an enthusiasm for fighting against inequality ?

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to start a career in the charity sector?

Location: Oxford or Glasgow
Hours: 36 hours per week
Salary: Full time annual equivalent: £17,230 (plus hotspot allowance of £1,765 for Oxford).
Region: Organisational Effectiveness
Job Family: Programme
Division: People Team
Job Type: Fixed Term

If so, we would like to hear from you. You don’t need to already know how charities work or to have any formal qualifications or work experience . The Oxfam Trainee Scheme is not a graduate scheme, but an 11-month entry-level programme, which is unique in what we offer and what we’re looking for from applicants.
We are looking for fresh ideas, approaches and ways of thinking from a variety of people, from a wide range of backgrounds, but particularly those from under-represented or disadvantaged groups.

This scheme is open to everybody – women, gender variant people, people of colour, people with disabilities, LGBT+ people, those from working class backgrounds, parents & carers, those who haven’t done a degree, those who haven’t worked for a charity before and everyone else! Although, please note you need to already have the right to work in the UK and, if you’ve recently completed an internship or are already working for a charity, consider whether this entry-level scheme is right for you.

Assessment and interview day: Wednesday 13 February in Oxford
NB: You must be available to attend on this day in Oxford in person (we will cover reasonable travel costs within the UK). Unfortunately, due the format of the day, we cannot do Skype/phone assessments instead.

Flexible working: Our trainee roles are usually full-time, but we are happy to explore part-time options as well as flexible work patterns.
Right to work: If you do not have the right and proof of your right to work in the UK currently, we cannot consider your application for this role. Like all organisations in the UK, Oxfam must adhere to the UK’s immigration rules and points based sponsorship process, which does not permit Oxfam to sponsor for this particular recruitment. Please only submit an application if you have the right to work in the UK. Proof of right to work will be required during the assessment process.

Masked applications: All of our applications for this scheme are ‘masked’ which means that when we shortlist, we cannot see your name or any of the Personal Details you supply us. We shortlist purely on the merit of the content of individual applications, and masking names helps us to make extra sure we’re doing just that.

Disability Confident Employer Commitment: Oxfam is a disability confident employer, which means that we strive to recruit people and retain them in ways that are flexible to the requirements they may have as a result of disability.

Support to disadvantaged candidates: We want everyone to have equal chance at being considered for this scheme. If you are unable to submit your application online and would prefer an alternative method, or you are experiencing another barrier to completing your application, please contact our recruitment team.

Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty. That means we tackle the inequality that keeps people poor. Together we save, protect and rebuild lives. When disaster strikes, we help people build better lives for themselves, and for others. We take on issues like land rights, climate change and discrimination against women. And we won’t stop until every person on the planet can enjoy life free from poverty.
