Amnesty International is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to provide support to the Governance Programme at the International Secretariat of Amnesty International in London. You will mainly work alongside and report to the Governance Programme Committees Coordinator.

You will help with coordinating the video production of candidates running for elected positions in our global governance elections that will be held in July. From planning, filming and post-production editing and adding subtitles you will work alongside the Committees Coordinator to produce candidate videos. You will also assist the team with updating the Governance Programme’s intranet site in Sharepoint to create an engaging intranet platform by designing and organising the content layout and checking and uploading documents and video content to the intranet.
You will be comfortable with using technology and learning software and have a positive can-do attitude and work well within a team environment. You will help to establish an excellent web presence for the Governance Programme as well as offer your own ideas and suggestions for improving our internal processes.

Amnesty International (commonly known as Amnesty or AI) is a non-governmental organization with its headquarters in the United Kingdom. It has a sole focuses on human rights. The organization claims it has more than eight million members and supporters around the world. Basically, the stated mission of the organization is to campaign for “a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights instruments.

The successful volunteer will be requested to carry out the following tasks:
Tasks include:

  • Planning, filming and editing videos
  • Liaising with candidates
  • Help with maintaining an governance intranet site
  • Troubleshooting website issues and a with the testing of new intranet site features
  • Providing ad hoc administrative support to t team as required

Eligibilities:

Essential:

  • Experience of producing video content for use on digital platforms
  • Knowledge of Sharepoint
  • A fast-learner who can work in a flexible manner
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Ability to be organised and self-motivated
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working to deadlines
  • Understanding and appreciation of cultural differences and willingness to apply the principles of cultural diversity and equal opportunity
  • Appreciation of security considerations, including the importance of confidentiality in Amnesty International’s work.

Desirable:

  • Experience of writing web content
  • Have some experience of using audio editing software
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks simultaneously
  • A self-starter with strong autonomous problem-solving ability
  • Enjoys inter-team collaboration.
