The Central Europe coordinator will work with the international Climate Tracker family to support a Central and Eastern European media campaign throughout 2018. He/she will help Climate Tracker connect with young writers and organisations in the region, prepare campaigns, workshops and interact with a vibrant community of climate change-makers.

The role would be aprox 10h/week and extend for the next 3 to 4 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Climate Tracker’s Eastern and Central European campaign in 2018
  • Analyse policy challenges in the region and help develop training materials
  • Manage relationships across our network and develop partnerships with media associations and environmental groups relevant to our campaigns
  • Help set up a climate journalism workshop in the region, managing logistics and helping find speakers and experts
  • Create and publish digital content (blog posts, social media posts/tweets, shareable images, graphics, email blasts, petitions ) on regional/national social media channels

Required General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Project management experience – especially working with digital platforms
  • Campaign management – with both online and offline campaigns
  • Experience in journalism / PR for non-profits / digital communications
  • Excellent writing skills, ability and willingness to produce content in a variety of formats, including for social media, and for different audiences with short turnaround times
  • Experience organising and liaising with grassroots and organisations in the region
  • Proficiency in English and in another Eastern or Central European language (preferably Polish)
  • Based in one of the Visegrad countries (Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic)

  • Passion and interest in Climate Change and Environmental issues
  • Interest and experience in writing about climate and environmental issues
  • Knowledge of the media landscape of Eastern and Central Europe

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.

When should you be available to work?

We will be opening this opportunity on the 7th of June, and it will be open until the 17th of June. We will then be shortlisting candidates and conducting interviews. We then hope to offer the opportunity to the selected candidate by June 22nd, so they can start working with Climate Tracker as soon as possible, and no later than June 25th.
