Paradigm Initiative has opened applications for the 8th Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (#DRIF), April 21 – 23 2020.The Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (#DRIF) has become an important platform for shaping conversations at the intersection of human rights, development and digital technologies in Africa. The Forum has in the past welcomed digital rights activists, telecommunications industry professionals, government officials with oversight over telecommunications policy, members of the academia and many more. The venue of #DRIF20 will be communicated in due course.
The Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF) is a platform where tough topical global issues, especially in Africa, are discussed by civil society, technology companies, government, academia and other stakeholders. This years’ edition builds on the scope of the forum which has included digital inclusion from 2019, after 6 editions which focused heavily on digital till 2018.
The Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF) is a platform where civil society, technology companies, governments, academia and other stakeholders discuss current global issues related to human rights. The Internet, especially in Africa.
The Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum has gained a reputation as an important platform where conversations on digital policy in Africa are shaped, and policy directions forged.
The forum presents a unique platform for discussions and engagement around current trends and emerging issues affecting Internet Freedom in Africa. Since 2017, proceedings at DRIF have been bilingual- English and French, to cater for the diversity of participants attending. Participants at DRIF include civil society organizations, policy actors/makers, legal/policy experts, academia, advocates, tech enthusiasts, industry representatives and active citizens among others.
The 6th edition of the Internet Freedom Forum (IFF) came up in Abuja, Nigeria, from 24th to 26th April, 2018. The forum presented a unique platform for discussions and engagement around current trends and emerging issues affecting Internet Freedom in Africa.
The Internet Freedom Forum has a track record of producing tangible, actionable outcomes. IFF 2017 held at Sheraton Hotels & Towers, Lagos, from April 25 through 27, and was attended by participants from over 30 countries, including Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Gambia, Kenya, Mauritius, Malawi, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Togo, Tunisia, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Canada, United Kingdom and United States.
